Christopher M. Gardner, 47, died unexpectedly November 15, 2016, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Bangor on February 19, 1969, son of Margaret (Burns) Gardner of Bangor and William C. Gardner, Sr. of Brewer.
Chris served 27 years with the University of Main Police, earning the rank of Detective Sergeant. He was currently working as a Maine Drug Enforcement Agent. Chris worked tirelessly for MDEA and was very proud of his accomplishments.
He was above all a loving and caring son, brother and man who touched many peoples’ lives. Chris enjoyed fundraising and organizing for the Special Olympics. He enjoyed fishing and especially his times at Uncle Warrens’ camp in Allagash.
Chris is survived by his parents, his brother, William Gardner, Jr. of Brewer, his sisters, Jill Gardner of Bangor and Katie Gardner of Brewer and step-mother, Carolyn Gardner of Bangor; many aunts and uncles.
He is also survived by his beloved girlfriend, Melissa Higgins of Bangor and her family. Chris will be greatly missed by Melissa, his fellow police officers, friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 pm. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 am. Saturday, November 19, 2016. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, 449 Ohio St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Spectacular Events Center, 395 Griffin Rd., Bangor, immediately follow the burial.
