Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Daniel Belanger can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Daniel Albert Belanger

Daniel “Dan” A. Belanger, 66, died unexpectedly, November 29, 2015 at a Bangor hospital holding the hand of his wife. Dan was born December 17, 1948 in Caribou, the son of Oscar and Anita (Tardiff) Belanger.

Dan attended Holy Rosary School and graduated Caribou High School in 1966. He started his long grocery career at Sampsons in Caribou, and moved along to be a Meat Counselor for Wetterau, Supervalu, before retiring from C & S Wholesale Grocers in September of 2014. Outside of work, Dan enjoyed his time building wooden toys for his grandsons, working outside and washing his vehicles, and spending time with his family. He was an active 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Peg (Haines) Belanger, and their children Lisa Plourde, her husband Mark of Presque Isle, and Amy Belanger of Bangor; as well as two special grandsons, Chase and Bryce Plourde. Also missing Dan are his siblings: Gerard Belanger of Howland; Adrian Belanger of Goodlettsville, TN; Henrietta Feldman of Allentown, PA; Leland Belanger of Augusta, GA; Cecile Sanders of Langley, WA; Donna Caruso of Dover-Foxcroft, Francis Belanger of Caribou, Lou Willey of Caribou, and Janet Morrow of Whitman, MA. Dan was predeceased by his parents and sister, Sylvia Beaulieu, of Perham. Dan will also be missed by four brother-in-laws: Steve, Roger, Wayne, and Neal Haines, and father-in-law, Mack Haines, all of Caribou; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-8 PM, Friday, Dec. 4, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt.
