Willis Leslie Martin Jr.
Willis Leslie Martin Jr - "Marty", aged 95, passed away peacefully in his home in Brewer on Sept. 9, 2026. He was born Jan. 9, 1932, to Willis L Martin Sr and Laura (Belanger) Martin in Lewistown, ME.
He graduated from Bangor High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force Military Police. He worked for N.H. Bragg & Sons for 38 years until retirement.
He married the love of his life, Muriel Ann Graffam on Sept 11, 1993. He and Muriel enjoyed working summers at the Barcadia campground on Mount Desert Island. Muriel died Sept 22, 2010.
"Marty" was a very proud veteran and often walked in the Veteran's Day parades. He was awarded an Honor Flight trip to Washington, DC. He also loved watching musical movies and enjoyed visits to Solstice Senior Living in Bangor to sing along with friends at their weekly entertainment events. His good friend and neighbor Wayne Nason and family were a great support to him in his final years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his three sisters Phyllis Simpson of Texas, Constance Lavoie of Bangor, Carol Whitcher of California.
He is survived by his sisters' children: Daphne Simpson, Dawn (Simpson) Burns, Russell Simpson - all of Texas; Joseph Lavoie of California; Robert Lavoie, Kathie (Lavoie) Wilson, Shari (Lavoie) Perkins - all of Maine; Donna (Whitcher) Davie, Charles Whitcher, Kenneth Whitcher, Laura (Whitcher) Lucia. Also his sister-in-law Marilyn Clark, brother-in-law William Whitcher and various other family members.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm. Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
