PERRY - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Arthur Ramage Jr., 77, who left us on March 20, 2025, in Bangor, Maine, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born March 28, 1947, in Jackson, Michigan, to parents William Arthur Ramage and Phyllis Elizabeth Goding.
Bill grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, and spent his summers at his maternal grandparents' summer home in Pretty Marsh, Mount Desert Island, Maine. His love of Maine caused him to go to Nasson College in Springvale, Maine and created a desire to permanently reside in Maine. At Nasson, he met the love of his life and future wife, Nancy Goodwin. They were inseparable thereafter and were blessed with three children Rebecka (John) Demers of Cumberland, Maine; James (Janet) Ramage of Melissa, Texas; and Suzanne Ramage of Calais, Maine.
Bill's quest to reside in Maine was clinched when he became an Officer by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, spending his career on the Canadian border at Calais and Lubec, Maine. Bill and Nancy have lived in their Perry home since 1975, with their three children and many cats and dogs along the way. Together, the enjoyed hiking the many trails at Acadia National Park with their family. Bill has a huge and varied record collection and he and Nancy loved listening to music as well as attending many concerts.
Bill loved his many hobbies including clamming, chopping wood for the wood stove and family history. He left a very detailed and accurate family tree on Ancestry.com going back to the 1700's and solved many family mysteries along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife and three children, Bill is survived by brothers, Mark and Mike and five grandchildren, Darien, Jonathan, Lillian, P.J., and Vivian.
