HAMPDEN - Walter Kurowski, 87, passed away April 30, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born October, 20, 1938, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the son of Michael and Stella M. (Siwik) Kurowski.

Walter graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he trained to be a carpenter, then later earned a B.S. and M.S. in vocational education from Fitchburg State College. Walter liked to keep busy, and started a second career as a home inspector until he and Beth moved to Hampden in 2005. In his free time, he loved traveling and gardening.

Walter loved sports, playing baseball and basketball in school. When it came to his kids, he never missed a football, soccer, basketball, or softball game or track meet. He also coached many of these teams and would load up his station wagon with neighborhood kids for sports practices.
