WINTERPORT - Vaughn Daniel Thibodeau Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 31, 2026. He was born August 15, 1947, in Bangor, Maine. He grew up in Winterport, the son of Reno and Viola Thibodeau.
Vaughn graduated from Winterport High School and married his high-school sweetheart, Frances, in 1964. He was the owner of Vaughn Thibodeau & Sons Construction, where he had the opportunity to work decades alongside his sons. He later enjoyed farming in his retirement. He was a founding member and fixture of Winterport Baptist Church where he loved to sing his favorite hymn, "Because He Lives." He was known for his strong work ethic, faith, kindness, and dedication to his family. He was extremely proud of his kids' accomplishments and had unsurpassed love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving, are his wife of 62 years, Frances Thibodeau; his children, Vaughn (Renee) of Glenburn, Mike (Stacy) of Frankfort, Barbara (Ed) of Hermon, and Patrick of Winterport; as well as his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, four siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit from 4:30-7:00p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street in Bangor. A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway in Bangor with reception to follow. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, 95 Lebanon Road in Winterport at 2:30p.m.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on July 11 at 1:00p.m. at 35 Lucky's Landing in Glenburn. All are welcome to join the family to honor and remember Vaughn together.
