Stephen Roy Cyr, passed away at home in Bangor, August 11, 2026. He was born in Presque Isle, to parents, James and Eva (Campbell) Cyr on August 15, 1954.

He was #3 in a family of 12 children. Growing up in the county, he worked in potato fields and graduated from Presque Isle High School. Steve attended UMaine and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined the Air Force in the 1970's, based out of Mississippi and Michigan. Then served in the Maine Air National Guard as an Aeronautics Specialist. He also worked for USPS.

Being a man of many talents, he owned a windshield repair business, SGS Glass, had a snow plowing business and owned a sawmill, which he used to build his house on the coast. Steve was an avid golfer, playing in Maine, Florida and on a trip with friends in Ireland. He attended TPC Sawgrass in Florida for 5 years.

He was very generous, offering to buy meals for family and friends, lend money, mow lawns and snow plow in the neighborhood. Steve loved children and had special relationships with many. They and the adults, appreciated his humor and tolerated his jokes.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kristi Erickson; The Cyr Family: Patricia, Andrew, Thomas, Carol, Jonathan, Mary (Michael), Rosemary (Erick), James (Coleen), Patrick and Kathryn; a special uncle and aunt, Glenn Campbell and Vivian (Larry) Harshman; and many nieces and nephews on the Cyr family side; sisters and brothers in law: Valerie & Glenn Peterson, Tania Erickson & Tom Thibodeau, and Vanessa Erickson; nieces and nephews, Jason Peterson, Lucus Peterson, Jonathan & Darcey Miller, Andrew Miller, Aliza Thibodeau & Kit Soden, Alexis Quintilliani & Samir Haj, Jessica & Brian Woods, Kate & Travis Wilcox, Deanna Corrow; great nieces and nephews: Denver & Aubrey Miller, Theo Soden, Leah & Jacob Woods, Savine Haj; cousins, Carmen Patrick, Erick & Nicky Betchel and their children, Kate, Jack and Ethan; Aunts Janet Erickson and Patsy Bechtel.

Steve was predeceased by James and Eva Cyr; brother, Paul; in-laws, Oscar and Virginia Erickson; Jasmine Miller, John Miller and Greg Corrow.

A graveside service with Military Honors will take place on September 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the New Sweden Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at G.A. Lutheran Church, 29 Capitol Hill Rd. New Sweden, immediately after the service.
