Sharon Donna Hart

Sharon Donna Hart, 83, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at home with her family by her side. Born in Ellsworth on February 4, 1943, to Robert Clough and Alberta (Murphy) Clough.

Sharon graduated from Bar Harbor High School alongside her older sister Jeanette, who was also her best friend. She met the love of her life, Richard Hart Sr. in 1960. They were married in February of 1961 and raised 5 boys. In 1973, Richard and Sharon bought the Colony Motel in Brewer and ran the family business for over 35 years. The family enjoyed countless adventures along the way; from yearly trips to Disney, to weekends at camp on Thurston Pond, and watching her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at their sporting events. Sharon's other hobbies included watching the Patriots, trips to the casino, going to bingo, being a Cub Scout Den Mother, and an avid beanie baby collector.

Sharon is survived by her 5 children, Richard Jr. and Wendy Hart of Winterport, Steve and Lynn Hart of Brewer, Michael and Lorna Hart of Bangor, David Hart Sr. and family, and Robert and Carly Hart of Land O' Lakes, FL; 14 grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Nelson, Adam and Kirsten Hart, Andrew and Sasha Hart, Heather and Michael Corbett, Erica and Andrew Jackson, Kristi and Brandon Carney, Kyle and Molly Alexander, Joshua Hart, Jessica and Tyler McCannell, Courtney Thomas and Timothy Dowd, and Kaitlyn Hart and Dane Holmes; 12 great-grandchildren, Ariana Nelson, Ava, Carter, Milo, and Lenix Hart, Lydia and Owen Corbett, Mila Jackson, Madison and Allison Carney, Graham Alexander, and one more on the way Easton McCannell; 4 nieces, Vicki Lunt, Leissa Long, Cathy Jordan, and Susan Cox; 2 nephews, Bob Hart, and Jim Hart; as well as many cousins. In addition, Sharon is also survived by her dear friend, Peach Coughlin. In addition to her parents and her husband of 61 years, Richard, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Morgan Grindle; her brother-in-law and sister in-law, Everett and Eleanor Hart; and sister-in law, Elinor Simons.

The family would like to give a special thank you to St. Joseph's Home Care and Hospice for their support, and caring during the last month of Sharon's life.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer, with a service following at 2 p.m, and a graveside burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, directly after that. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversations and refreshments at the Hart Family house following the graveside service.
