Sandra Eastman

December 19, 1938 — May 4, 2025

Exeter - Sandra Jean Eastman, 86, passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. She was born December 19, 1938, on the family farm in Exeter, to Kenneth and Marguerite Ordway.

Sandra graduated from Corinna Union Academy, class of 1957, and attended Eastern Maine Nursing School, graduating in 1960 as an RN. On September 20, 1960, she married her classmate Deane S. Eastman, also of Exeter, and they spent over 64 years together. She started her career at EMMC and then moved to St. Joseph Hospital, where she retired in 2002 after 40 years working in different departments. Sandy, as she was known to friends and colleagues, was very giving of her time and effort to many people and projects. One of her favorites was planting and maintaining the flower gardens at the Godparent Home in Bangor, where her father spent time as a young boy. She loved working with flowers and had beautiful flower gardens at her home. She was a member of the Exeter Baptist Church for many years, then became a member of the Bangor Baptist Church/Crosspoint Church for many more. In 1997, she toured Israel and the Holy Land and later went as a nurse on two missionary trips, one to Nepal and another to Africa. Spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy; seeing the great-grandchildren playing together would always put a huge smile on her face.

She is survived by her husband, Deane; sons, David Eastman and Kimberly, and Patrick Eastman and Georgia, all of Exeter; grandsons, Aaron Eastman and wife, Jenna of Levant, Randy Eastman and wife, Sabrina of Milford, Corey Eastman and wife, Libby of Old Town; great grandchildren, Owen, Landon, Mason, Josie, Reese, Elizabeth, and baby girl Eastman arriving in July. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Janice Ordway of Cape Coral, Florida, Kathleen Eastman, and Jean Eastman of Exeter; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Richard Ordway of Cape Coral, FL; brothers-in-law, Thayne Eastman of Newport, and Galen, Wendell, and Dale Eastman all of Exeter; sisters-in-law, Dorinne Eastman of Newport, and Elaine Eastman of Exeter.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Crosspoint Church of Bangor, 1476 Broadway, Bangor, with the Reverend Jerry Mick, officiating.
