GLENBURN – Russell R. “Russ” Peterson, 65, passed away peacefully, August 27, 2013 at his home with his loving wife and children by his side. He was born September 1, 1947, in Easton, MA the son of Edward and Evelyn (Jones) Peterson.
Russell’s family moved shortly after his birth to the Dexter area. There he spent his childhood and teen years, and he graduated from Dexter Regional High School. After high school Russ was drafted into the Army and served as an intelligence analyst, in Vietnam. Upon returning from Vietnam Russ married the love of his life Janice (Herring) of Dover-Foxcroft, and there they spent the majority of their 44 years together. A hard worker, Russ worked at Dexter Shoe Co. for 35 years. Along with many hours spent working with his cousin Nils doing various jobs, but enjoyed working at Nils Christmas Tree Farm the most. A proud veteran Russ was a member of the American Legion Post 29 in Dover-Foxcroft. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be extremely missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward Jr., and two sister, Shirley Whitaker and Jacqueline Day. Russ is survived by his wife Janice of Glenburn; a daughter, Amy of Glenburn; a son, Adam and his wife Marcia of Glenburn; three grandchildren, who he loved more than anything, Bailey, Adrian and Sophie; a sister, Linnea and her husband Barry Walker of Detroit; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn. The family invites relatives and friend to share conversation and refreshments at, 51 Marston Meadow Rd., Glenburn, following the service.
