Hermon, Maine - Ronald L. Hatch, 85, died peacefully at Northern Light Hospital in Bangor, on December 1, 2025. Born in Bangor, Maine, on March 9, 1940, Ronald was the son of the late Argie Hatch and Beatrice (Nowell) Hatch.
Ronald was raised in Hermon on the family dairy farm and went to schools in Hermon and Bangor. Early on, he worked for Pleasant Hill Dairy in Hermon, where he made many life-long friends. He retired from the City of Bangor as a mechanic, working at the City Motor Pool and Bangor Fire Department. After retirement, he quickly grew bored, so he drove dump truck for Joe Lynch and Rick Faloon. He also drove cars for Central Maine Auto Auction. Ronald was a member of the Bangor Elks Lodge #244 for 49 years, and a Master Mason for 64 years at Kenduskeag Lodge #137 AF & AM. Dad loved NASCAR, Red Sox baseball, old western television shows, hunting, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. He held great pride in his family homestead, and could often be found sitting outside on his bench watching the traffic go by, or tinkering in his garage. He loved to restore old cars and tractors. He had a fondness for animals, having been raised on a family farm. His cat, Daisy, will miss him. He loved his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always happy to see them coming to visit. Those who knew him, will never forget his conversations, and the love he had for his family and friends. His children will miss never ending stories, his thoughtfulness, his compassion, and his willingness to give and help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gail D. Hatch; three children, Bonnie Higgins and husband, Richard, of Palmyra, Brenda Hatch and husband, Michael Whitman, of Glenburn, and Brian Hatch and fiancée, Paula Young, of Glenburn; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sixth to be born in February; many nieces and nephews; and two foster sisters, JoAnne McCann of Bangor, and Susan Conway of Bucksport. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Norman; and sisters, Gwendolyn, Janice, and Sylvia.
