Punta Gorda, FL - Ronald Carson, 84 of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Hampden, Maine, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on July 11th, 2025. Ronald battled Parkinson's disease but never lost his witty sense of humor or the ability to light up any room.
Ronald was born on November 30, 1940, in Perry, Maine to Ethel (Gove) Thornton and Neil Carson. He attended Calais High School and graduated in 1960. After high school, Ron joined the Navy where he served as a Second Class Radar Man until 1964. After his Navy service, he worked in Burbank, California where he met his future wife Eileen Munz while working at J. J. Newberry Co. After marrying Eileen in 1968, Ron's job took him to New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. In 1980, he returned home to Maine and settled in Hampden, where they lived for 31 years. Ron and Eileen owned and operated Brownie's Market on Main St. in Bangor. In 1990, Ron returned to the clothing industry and became a very committed employee of W.S. Emerson, where he worked for 23 years before retiring in 2012.
A committed father and husband, Ron enjoyed 57 years of marriage to Eileen. Ron raised his family of four boys in Hampden, Maine. He was committed to chasing his kids around the state watching them pursue their hobbies such as music and sports. Ron was often known as the one shouting "Box Out!" or ensuring that the referees knew that he did not agree with their calls. He loved to spend time working around his home. He especially enjoyed working outside in the yard and landscaping. He felt there was no job that he could not do himself.
Ron is survived by his wife Eileen of Punta Gorda, FL, as well as his children, Scott and his wife Meg of Belfast, ME, Craig of Bangor, ME, Jeff and his wife Kim of Quincy, MA, Chris and his wife Kelly of Carmel, ME. Ron is also survived by his grandchildren Sawyer, Tanner, and Shane of Belfast, ME as well as Averie & Kendall of Quincy, MA.
