Robert W. Shappy

Robert Wayne Shappy, 83, of Winterport passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont on March 11, 1943, the son of Richard Shappy, and Henrietta (Jones) Shappy.

Bob grew up in Vermont where he attended Bellows Free Academy and shortly after graduation joined the National Guard for a few years. In 1962, he married Shirley Norris. He found his calling in the military, and eventually became a missile site manager at F.E. Warren Air Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the United States Air Force. He spent over 20 years in the military before retiring to Maine where he moved on to a variety of careers as a civilian. Bob and Shirley enjoyed over 52 years of marriage before she passed in 2014.

Bob is survived by two sons, Wayne A. Shappy and Gregory B. Shappy and his wife, Stephanie; one granddaughter, Chelcie (Shappy) Robbins and her husband, Joe; three sisters, Veronica Bachand and husband, Ron, Valerie Gadouas and her husband, Al, Vicki Murray and her husband, Roland; two brothers, Eddie Shappy and wife, LouAnne, and Jackie Shappy and wife, Susan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport, ME.
