Robert Lapointe

Robert Joseph LaPointe “Boe” or “Bob”, 91, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at home where he wanted to be, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 29, 1932 in Hartford, Ct., the son of the late Veio J. And Stella (Dauphinais) LaPointe and lived most of his life in Farmington, Ct.

He graduated from Farmington High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Evelyn Hamm in 1952. They were married for 61 years before she passed away in 2013. He served in the Army from 1952-1956 where after basic training he was stationed in Germany and discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1960. In 2001 they moved to Maine to be near their 3 children who were all residing in Maine.

Surviving are his children, Cheryl “Cherie” Roy and her husband, Rob, of Holden and Susan LaPointe, of Newport, two grandchildren, Carol Rose and Robert, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend since 4th grade and his wife, Henry and Barbara Woodward. His son, James R. LaPointe, predeceased him in 2021. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Sr. Genevieve LaPointe, Mae Burhans, Sr. Bernice Marie LaPointe, CSJ, Lea Maloy; a brother, William LaPointe and his granddaughter Beth Ann (LaPointe) Knutson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 531 North Main Street, Brewer, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to An Angel’s Wing, C/O Beth’s Place (in memory of his granddaughter, Beth Ann), 1567 Lisbon Street, Lewiston, ME 04240 .
