Richard Clark

October 24, 1939 — June 6, 2025

Orrington, Maine -

Richard Roy Clark Sr., 85, of Orrington, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 24, 1939, in Orrington, the son of Fred R. and Gertrude (Harding) Clark. Richie grew up on his family's dairy farm and attended schools in Orrington. He was a member of Brewer High School, Class of 1958.

On November 14, 1959, Richie married his wife, Sharon Candellari, and together they built a life rooted in family and hard work. They settled on the family farm in Orrington, later building their own home nearby in 1984, where they lived for the remainder of Richie's life.

Richie was a dedicated long-haul truck driver, beginning his career with Ralph Curtis Trucking and later working for St. Johnsbury Trucking for over 24 years, where he served as a shop steward for Teamsters Local 340. He retired from Dysart's in 2010. Richie was twice honored as a member of the Million Mile Club for his safe driving record.

From a young age, Richie had a passion for motors and spent countless hours repairing vehicles for friends and family. He enjoyed drag racing his black Chevy Chevelle SS at Winterport Dragway and, in retirement, took pride in restoring and driving his 1964 Chevy Impala SS, exploring the back roads of Maine with Sharon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sharon (Candellari) Clark; his son, Richard "Dick" Clark Jr. and wife, Terri, of Litchfield, NH; daughters, Shirley Jordan and husband, Andrew, of Bangor; Kimberly Yerxa and partner, Jeff Bergin, of Standish; and Elizabeth "Beth" Milan and James, of Brewer. He also leaves behind grandchildren Katie, Ryan, Meghan, Ashley, Leah, Kimberly, Michael, Courtney, Olivia, and Grace; eight great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews; and a special lifelong friend, Eddie Breau.

In addition to his parents, Richie was predeceased by his brother, Edward Clark.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gary Ross for his years of care, and to the compassionate team at Gentiva Hospice for their support in Richie's final days.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St. Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, following the service.
