BANGOR - Richard F. Alexander, 71, of Bangor, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
Richard was born at Dow Air Force Base and raised in Presque Isle and Winterport, Maine. He graduated from Hampden Academy in the Class of 1974. Richard was a long-serving Navy veteran, spending significant time stationed in the Mediterranean before concluding his service in Virginia. Following his military career, Richard worked diligently at Bangor Recycling and enjoyed a fulfilling 17 years at Hollywood Slots.
Richard had a deep love for his cats, Louie and Lexi, and found joy in riding his motorcycle and playing cribbage. He was known for his warm heart and kind spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lucille (Fuller) Alexander. Richard is survived by his brothers, Donald Alexander and his wife Kathy of Bloomington, MN, and Joseph Alexander Jr. and his wife Debbie of Winterport, ME, along with his sisters, Diana Webster of Shakopee, MN, and Sharon Alexander of Natick, MA. He also leaves behind his beloved nephew and nieces: Joseph Alexander, George Webster, Robert Alexander, and Carol Alexander-Barnes.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor. A private interment will take place at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
