EDDINGTON and ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA -- Ralph E. Sites, 92 died August 10, 2013. He was born January 16, 1921, in Old Town, Maine, the son of the late Joseph and Edith (Robinson) Sites.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 during World War II in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany with the 372nd Military Police Escort Guard Company. He worked as supervisor for Viner Bros. for 38 years, in both Bangor and Presque Isle. Ralph was a loving and gentle man who enjoyed golfing and spending his winters in Florida.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Ida Sites of Eddington; daughter, Linda and Stephen LaChance of Bucksport; granddaughter, Jen and Christopher Sibley of Windham; grandson, Jeffrey and Tedda LaChance of Gorham; and three great-granddaughters, Josephine and Avalon Sibley and Colette LaChance.
He also leaves stepson, George and Patricia Bartlett of Davies, FL; stepdaughter, Joan Ness of Hampden; eight step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Arthur and Jackie Sites of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Dorothy and Thomas Larcombe of Bangor, and Jacquelyn West and Barry Farris of San Diego, California; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Sites; two brothers, Robert Sites and Donald Sites; stepson, Robert Bartlett; and stepson-in-law, Richard Ness. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Russell and Sara Smith.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Kate Nicol officiating, where relatives and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service. Interment with military honors will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond Street, Bangor following reception.
