Rachel Clark

Rachel Linda (Burgess) Clark passed away peacefully on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. She was born October 9, 1946 in Vinalhaven, the daughter of Eugene H. and Lucille T. (Morton) Burgess.

Rachel graduated from Vinalhaven High School, class of 1964, and from Husson College, class of 1969. She met her husband, Dana Clark, while living on Grove Street in Bangor and they celebrated 55 years of marriage in May.

Rachel was an avid reader and loved to share the juicy details of her latest novel (often with spoilers!). She was a supporter of the American Folk Festival from the beginning and loved poring over the schedule days in advance to plan which artists she would hear and the delicious treats she would enjoy. She was a woman of deep faith and found many years of friendship and community in local churches.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Sarah Clark, and her husband, Randy Wanat. The family wants to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Grant 6 at the Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for the exceptional care and comfort that they provided Rachel in her final days.

Rachel suffered from shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia in her final years and encouraged everyone to get their two-dose shingles vaccination.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10am, Friday, December 5, 2025 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with a funeral service to follow at 11am. The family invites friends and relatives to share memories and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, following the service. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Prospect.

A Celebration of Rachel's Life will be announced in the spring of 2026. All are welcome.
