Columbus, NC, North Carolina - Pat Meland Bond: A Life of Dedication and Love

Born on February 19, 1938, in Barker, NY, Pat Meland Bond was the cherished first child of Lester and Margaret Meland.

After graduating as class valedictorian in 1955, she earned her RN from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 1958. Soon after, she married Gordon Kingsbury Bond, beginning a 66-year union. They raised two sons, Scott and Neal, moving from NJ to Maine in 1973 for Gordon's career.

Pat transitioned from hospital clinician to public health nurse, dedicating 31 years to the city of Bangor, eventually becoming director of public health nursing. The family resided in Brewer and later Otis, where Pat embraced lake life with her grandchildren. In 2006, they relocated to Flat Rock, NC, trading harsh winters for a temperate climate. In 2024, they moved to Laurelhurst Senior Living in Columbus, NC.

On May 21, 2025, Pat passed away peacefully, surrounded by her sons. Her legacy is profound: 53 years as a nurse, 66 years as a devoted wife, 65 years as a nurturing mother, 47 years as a loving grandmother, and 17 years as an inquisitive great-grandmother. Her passion for music, arts, and family lives on in her descendants.
