DEDHAM - Owen D. "Bud" Young Sr., 96, passed away peacefully July 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born January 29, 1929, in Dedham, the son of Sherley Young and Cora M. (Johnson) Young.
After high school, Bud joined the Army and became a Radio Operator in Japan. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, he did Carpentry before starting Holyoke & Young Concrete Foundations with his brother-in-law Pete Holyoke. This very respected business turned in to a life-long career. Bud also celebrated over 50 years as a Mason and Shriner from the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge, #217 A.F. & A.M. of Orrington, and Anah Shrine Temple.
Surviving Bud, are his grandson, Shawn Spratt and his wife, Leianna, who cared for him in his last years, his loving partner, Corrine Sickles; Bud's children, Betty Lapierre (Yvon), Patricia Philbrook (Terry), Sonny Young, Donna Madison (Rod), along with 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for family & close Friends will be held at 12:00p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Union Cemetery, 327 Bald Mountain Rd, Dedham immediately followed by a celebration of life for everyone that would like to honor Bud at 1:00p.m., at the Peaks Hill Lodge, 40 Peakes Hill Rd, Dedham.
