BANGOR - Molly Inman Nagle, 89, of Bangor, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 13, 1936, the daughter of Harold and Cordelia (Putnam) Inman.
Molly grew up in Houlton and graduated as valedictorian from Ricker Classical Institute. She went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono, where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and the distinguished All Maine Women honor society.
After college, she began her teaching career in Home Economics and Dietetics at high schools in Brunswick and Southwest Harbor. In 1962, she married Robert J. Nagle, Lieutenant (J.G.), US Navy. Throughout Robert's Navy and academic assignments-from Newport, Rhode Island, to Arlington, Virginia, and Newton, Massachusetts-Molly taught and nurtured young minds, all while building a warm and loving home.
Eventually, she and Robert settled back in Houlton in 1977, and later moved to the Bangor area in 1988. Together, they raised four children and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
For 27 years, Molly played an integral role in the family business, Reid's Confectionery. She managed payroll, supported daily operations, and brought joy and kindness to everyone around her-making each person feel like part of the family.
Molly was the heart of her home and the "center of gravity" for her extended family. She had a lifelong devotion to creating warm, welcoming celebrations and passed cherished traditions down to her grandchildren. She especially loved teaching swimming lessons at Nickerson Lake, preparing Saturday-night baked beans in Blue Hill, hosting gatherings, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events and concerts.
She was a member of All Souls Congregational Church for 33 years and belonged to the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
In addition to her parents, Molly was predeceased by her son, Arthur Charles Nagle. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; her children, Kenneth Nagle, Diane Linde, and Barbara Stewart; her siblings, Helen Boomer, Joseph Inman, and David Inman; her children's and sibling's spouses; and twelve treasured grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with Rev. Chad L. Poland, pastor and teacher, officiating. Family and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the church vestry immediately following the service. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton.
