Bangor - Michael Ralph Caruso, beloved husband, father, brother, and papa, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, with his loving wife and children by his side, at the age of 85. He was born in Boston, MA, on July 13, 1940, to Michael S. and Angelina (Scaltrito) Caruso.

Michael attended Boston Technical High School, where, upon his graduation, he entered the Air Force on May 7, 1958, and proudly served his country, retiring May 30, 1978, with the rank of Master Sergeant. Michael was an active Catholic throughout his life and participated as a lecturer at St. Mary's Church in Bangor, followed by sponsoring church members through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and teaching catechism to school-aged children. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and held numerous positions within the fraternal organization. "Mike" worked in sales for several car companies and found his second career working as a consultant for Penquis CAP in the home heating and winterization program, retiring after 21 years of service. He was known to say working at Penquis was one of the best jobs he ever had. He stated that," he knew when Friday came, he had made someone's life better that week". Michael enjoyed time spent fishing and camping in the Allagash for 29 years and was an avid hunter as well.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ann Marie (Notaro); son, Michael A. and his wife, Xiomara of Pompano Beach, FL; daughter, Lisa M. and husband, Gerald Martin of Lincoln, ME; three granddaughters whom he greatly adored, Brooke Ann Nicole Caruso, Bonita Springs, FL, Grace Catherine and Isabelle Rose Martin, Lincoln, ME; sisters, Rosemarie Nina Hahn of Plymouth, MA. and Linda Frances and her husband, Leland Dill, Landrum S.C. along with several nieces and nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, his fishing buddy and brother-in-law, Herman (Bud) Hahn, and his infant granddaughter, Ashley Samantha Caruso.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. All are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass. The Rite of Committal will be held in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, later this spring.
