ORONO - Michael E. Ambrose, born May 27, 1953 went peacefully in his home, after courageous fight with cancer. He was born March 27, 2026, in Bangor, the son of Edwin "Breezy" and Mary (Wahl) Ambrose.

Michael graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1972 and went onto The Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking in 1977, in New York. This was the start of his long career in the jewelry business.

In 1983, he purchased Degrasse Jewelry Store in Orono, Maine, founded by Jim Degrasse in 1963, where Michael developed trusting relationships with all his customers for years to come. He retired and closed the business in December of 2018 when he held his last ''annual" Christmas party and sale, which was attended by many over the years for those last-minute gifts.

While fighting his battle with cancer, Michael could be seen taking his walks around Orono, with pockets full of biscuits for any dogs he would see along the way. For several years, Michael enjoyed and was a hard-working member of the Kiwanis Club, Orono. Family was very important to him; he was kind and supportive to them all and genuinely cared for them.

Michael would want to give special thanks to Dr. Gary Ross for his quality care and friendship. A special appreciation to Jimmy Thomas for his friendship and accompanying him on their many trips to Boston during Michael's treatments. Michael had many friends who he enjoyed spending time with. His Monday group who he enjoyed playing pitch with at the Old Town American Legion. Along with his cribbage friends that enjoyed hanging out with him and enjoying a good cigar. Several of which he also played golf with at Penobscot Valley Country Club of which he was a member for many years.

In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his sister, Teresa A. Bowen and brother, John Ambrose. He is survived by his brother, Richard W. Ambrose and his wife, Linda, of Glenburn; niece, Rachel Ambrose and her son, (his great-nephew), Keenan Ambrose Jones, nephew, Richard E. Ambrose and special friend, Shari Haley; niece, Leah Ambrose and her fiancé, Paul Dunbar; nephew, Benjamin "Ben" Bowen; niece, Johnna M. Daugherty and her husband, Franklin, their son (his great-nephew), Harry, their daughter (his great-niece) Isla and nephew, John W Ambrose II.
