Mary Elizabeth Sickles passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at her home in Bangor, ME.
Born in Bucksport, Maine, on April 22, 1931, Mary graduated form Bangor High School in 1950, where she met the love of her life and husband of 35 wonderful years, James A. Sickles Sr.
As the proud mother of seven children she spent a large portion of her early adult life as a Homemaker taking care of the household and her children, and proud to be called one! Mary always cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her baking skills. As the children became a little older she had several part-time jobs. Being a baker at the local Hannaford Supermarkets was her favorite, where she worked up until her retirement.
In her later years she became an avid reader, reading 4-5 books a month, she loved her mystery/crime/love stories! If she wasn't reading, she was watching one of her favorite soap operas.
Mary was preceded in death by her Husband, James Sickles Sr., her sons Hollis Sickles and James Sickles Jr. She is survived by her children, George Sickles and his wife, Sandy, Vivian Sickles, John Sickles and his wife Dawn, Lillian Gonya, and Michael Sickles, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10-11am Friday, May 29, 2026 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a celebration of life service will take place at 11am. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor following the service. Those who wish to remember Mary in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME, 04401.
