BREWER - Marlene Greeley Glidden, 78, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025 at a Rockport hospice facility. She was born on October 10, 1947, in Parkman, the daughter of William and Ruth Greeley.
Marlene graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, she moved to Bangor and started working at Merrill Trust Company. She married the love of her life, Martin Glidden, on June 28, 1969. They settled in Orrington where they started a family and eventually she opened an at home daycare. She enjoyed attending her sons and grandchildren's school and sporting events, crafting, rollerskating, and camping. Her favorite places were Jo Mary, Greenland Cove, and their yearly trip to Freyburg Fair. Marlene made the best chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and had a love for watching sunsets. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, and Memé to all of her grandchildren.
Marlene is survived by her sons, Stacy Glidden and wife, Shelley, of Greenfield, Jason Glidden and wife, Cindy, of Bradenton, Florida, and Troy Malave and wife, Cyndi, of Rockland; grandchildren, Raegan Newton and husband, Elijah, of Greenfield, Cody Malave and wife, Danica, of St. George, Gracen Malave and wife, Caitlynn, of Greenbush, Bradey Malave, of San Diego, California, Taylor Parker and husband, Travis, of Parrish, Florida, Chelsea Brewer and husband, Ben, of Orono, and Allison Hawksley, of Clifton; great-grandchildren, Oliver Brewer, Declan Malave, and two on the way, Kairo Newton and Lincoln Malave; nieces, Wanda Greeley, Traci Gionfriddo and husband, Tony, Joni Boissonneault, and Melissa Knott; nephew, John Hanson and wife, Jen; great-nieces and nephews, Jamie, Jenna, Sydney, Brandon, Jackson, Colby, and Mike and special friends, Jean Malo, Norma and Lenny Proulx, Eileen Sherburne, Dianne and Thom Rounds, Nancy McLaughlin, and Debbie Wood. In addition to her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Marty; sisters, Laura Withee and Shirley Malave and special friends, Anne Malo and Reggie Sherburne.
The celebration of Marlene's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington with Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating, with the reception to follow directly afterwards downstairs. Lunch and beverages will be provided. Please join us for a bite to eat and feel free to bring a special story that you have with Marlene to share. Interment will be held in the spring.
