Marlene R. (Sullivan) Doucette, 90, passed away August 14, 2025 at her home. She was born February 8, 1935, in Orono the daughter of Everest "Bingo" and Marion (Bowers) Sullivan.

Marlene was on the Board of Directors when the Orono Thrift Shop was started and volunteered at the shop for over 40 years. She was instrumental in starting the Orono Rescue Ambulance and organized many fund raisers to purchase a new ambulance and recruited EMT volunteers to work on it. Marlene was a member of the Orono Health Association for many years as well as the American Legion Auxillary, Orono Historical Society, and the Senior Citizen Club of Orono.


She is survived by four daughters, Bethany Carpenter, Cheryl Piper and husband Terry, Jolene Wilson, Darylann Doucette; one son, William Doucette, siblings, Marion Bell , Betty St. John, Wanda Cunningham, James Sullivan and wife Carol, Rose Cote, Charlene Jackson, Eddie and Patti Doucette, Fran and Jan Doucette, and ten grandchildren, Joey, Julie, Shane, Wyatt, Jason, Amy, Joey, James, Madison, and Josh; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Christina Doucette; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Marlene was predeceased by her husband Joseph Doucette in 1972, her son, Alphonse "Larry" Doucette , a sister Donna and a brother, George.

A memorial service will be held 1 pm Friday, September 12, 2025 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. following the service. Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono at a later date. Gifts in Marlene's memory may be made to the Orono Health Association, 10 Birch St., Orono, ME. 04473.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Constellation Hospice, Alpha One Services, Attendant Services of Maine, Kate Mordino and Christine Hallsworth for their caring and compassion.
