Marion Olive Dunivan, 92, of Dixmont passed away on March 16, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born December 20, 1933, the daughter of Kenneth and Lucy Morse, and raised by Lucy and Emery Sutherland.
Marion was very active in her town, operating her dairy farm with her husband, Oral Dunivan, for many years, where she opened her doors every summer for family and friends to visit. She was appointed Town Health Officer, volunteering her time transporting locals to and from their doctor's appointments. She ran a bakery in town, providing baked goods for many events. Marion participated in the Dixmont Volunteer Fire Department, the Dixmont Snowmobile Club, as well as a Tax Collector for the town. She was a founding member of the Dixmont Scholarship Association. She was a matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, an active member of the Maine Trappers Association, a member and leader of 4H, and held the Boston Golden Cane. Marion and her husband, Oral, purchased tickets for the Shriners Circus for the Etna-Dixmont second grade class for 37 years in a row. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing, as well as hunting and snowmobiling. She spent many summers camping, fishing and waterskiing. Above all, Marion loved time spent with family, she enjoyed attending all of her grand and great-grandchildren's activities. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband of 54 years, Oral Dunivan, Marion was predeceased by daughter, Ellen Springer; great-grandson, Alexander Hathaway; brothers, Alton, David, Billy and Fritz Sutherland; sister, Leola Scott. She is survived by her children, Kayan Clark and husband, Graydon, James Dunivan and wife, Wanda, Cheryl Nichols and husband, David, Susie Hopkins and husband, Dudy, and Joyce Reardon and husband, Rick; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Marions life will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Dixmont Gold Crest Riders Snowmobile Club on Cates Road, Dixmont. A graveside service will be held at 4pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's name may be made to Dixmont Fire and Rescue or the Dixmont Scholarship Association, both at P.O. Box 100 Dixmont, ME. 04932
