Marion F. Bailey, 98, went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2026, at Ross Manor. She was born September 12, 1927, in Brewer, Maine, the daughter of Earl C. Eaton and Winnie Mae (Moon, Eaton) Shaughnessy.

Marion graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1944, at the age of 16 and later married Franklin Woodrow "Woody" Bailey, one of her former teachers. She was a stay-at-home mom until their two children were school-aged, after which she worked various jobs for the Brewer School department, including secretarial services in the guidance and front offices. She retired when her husband retired from teaching in 1973 and spent the rest of her years enjoying her favorite activities, including flower gardening, dancing at the Saturday Nighters, being part of service clubs such as Quipus, and traveling the world. She was a devout Christian and devoted to supporting her church by teaching Sunday School, welcoming people to services, and participating in craft clubs to help with fund-raising. However, Marion's greatest love was her family and she made it a priority to attend every school and community activity possible in which her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated.

Surviving are her son, Dr. Ronald Bailey and his wife, Gayle, of Bangor; daughter, Carole Bailey of Brewer; four grandchildren, Dr. Eron Aldridge and wife, Kayla of Veazie, Ryan Bailey and wife, Rachel of Kailua, HI, Patrick Bailey & wife, Kimberly of Gilbert, AZ, and Shannon Wheeler and husband, Selden, of Hampden; seven great-grandchildren, Lia Remington and husband Sam, of Bangor, Eli Wheeler & wife, Julia, of Winterport, Sage Wheeler of Hampden; Blake Aldridge, of Veazie, Addison and Mason Bailey of Kailua, HI, and Brielle, Pearl, and Savannah Bailey of Gilbert, AZ; four great-great grandchildren, Ezekiel & Amos Remington, Eliza and Robyn Wheeler; three nieces, Joan (Eaton) Tate of Otis; Debbie (Eaton) Dane & husband, Mark, of Ellsworth, Rebecca "Becky" (Eaton) Corey of Arlington, VA; nephews, Bill Eaton & wife, Gail of Topsham, Jim Bailey and Thomas Bailey of Kenduskeag. In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her sister, Ruth; her brothers, Philip and Caswell Eaton; and her husband, Woodrow Bailey.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7p.m., Friday, August 28, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The funeral service will be held at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Rd., Orrington, on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00a.m., with the Reverend Carl Schreiber officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a time of refreshments and conversation at the church fellowship room following the service, after which interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, 613 N. Main St., Brewer, for those who wish to attend.

The family also wishes to thank the staff of Ross Manor Rehabilitation and Ross Manor Long Term Care, Bangor for their excellent care, support, and services during Marion's various stays at their facility. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
