Marilyn Hillary Wertheim

Marilyn H. Wertheim (Née Meyer)Marilyn Hillary Wertheim died Monday, October 27th, 2026, at her home in Hermon, Maine. She was 79. Marilyn was born in New York City in June 1947 to Arthur Jerome and Florence Meyer.She was raised in Manhattan and Queens, briefly moving to Chicago when she was 13. She graduated from Queens College and met her future husband, Abe, at a college dance in 1967. They remained happily married and unwaveringly inseparable for 57 years. Marilyn was a deeply loving and caring wife and mother. As a young woman, she worked as an elementary school teacher in New York City and as an early computer programmer. Later in life, she owned and operated a chocolate business for many years.She was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking for her family, playing the piano, traveling, and knitting. Over her lifetime, she crafted dozens of beautiful sweaters and blankets for her closest family members. In her spare time, she collected children's books, leaving behind a large collection. Marilyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur (Jerry) and Florence.Shared LegacyAbraham and Marilyn are survived by Marilyn's brother Jeffrey and sister-in-law Anne; Abe's sister-in-law Truus and brother-in-law Jean-Pierre; their three children, Robert (Leah), Eric (Gina), and Caryn (Kurt); five grandchildren, Toby, Nora, Eli, Emily, and James; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.A graveside service will be held 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Glenburn.
