BANGOR – M. Kathleen “Kay” Jacobs, 89, died October 4, 2014, at the Maine Veterans Home. She was born May 25, 1925, in Bangor, the daughter of Earl A. and Kathleen (Reagan) Downes.
Kay graduated from Bangor High School. She worked for the National Farm Loan Association and she retired from the Maine State Labor Department, in 1993. Kay enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially liked watching the Red Sox and Patriots with her husband. The family wants to thank the nurses and staff at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor for the loving and devoted care given to Kay.
Kay is survived by two daughters, Terri Hutchins and her husband, Ernie of Brewer and Carol Morrison of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Virginia Campbell and her husband John; brother-in-law, Stanley Jacobs and his wife Gloria; grandchildren, Denise Horr and her husband Chris, Mike Morrison and his wife Doria, Mark Morrison and his wife Becca, and Matt Morrison and his wife Patti; step grandson, John Hutchins and family; great grand children, Ellie, CJ, Kyle, Matt Jr., Emma, Madison, Jordan, Mason, and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Kathleen is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Arthur “Lefty” Jacobs; brothers, Earl Downes and his wife Irene, and Bill Downes and his wife Marie; and brother-in-law, Jim Jacobs and his wife Betty.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service. Interment will be private for the family.
