Lynda Leen Clyve, 82, of Bangor, Maine, passed peacefully on September 9th, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to her community.
Lynda dedicated her life to making her hometown a better place through decades of civic involvement, nonprofit leadership, and volunteer work. She served as the Executive Director of the Bangor-Brewer YWCA from 1985 to 2005, a 20-year tenure marked by compassionate leadership and tireless advocacy for women and families.
A lifelong public servant, Lynda was a trustee of Eastern Maine Medical Center from 1987 to 2005, and in 1990 served as the Penobscot County Chairwoman for William S. Cohen's U.S. Senate reelection campaign. Her passion for community spirit was evident in her role as Director of the River City Festival, a major celebration of Bangor's sesquicentennial in 1984.
Lynda also devoted 20 years to volunteer service, earning her the distinguished Maine Federation of Business & Professional Women's "Woman of the Year" Award, a testament to her unwavering commitment to civic responsibility.
Lynda's life of service, kindness, and dedication leaves an indelible mark on the Bangor community and all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband, Eric Clyve Sr.; her sister, Margaret and brother-in-law Joe Holbrook; her brother, Stephen Leen; her sons, Scott Clyve and his partner, Paula Matlins and son Eric Penza-Clyve and his wife, Susan Penza-Clyve; as well as her grandchildren: Charlotte Clyve, Adam Clyve, Ana Penza-Clyve and Eli Penza-Clyve. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
