Loretta A. Pomeroy

CORINTH - Loretta A. Pomeroy, 85, transitioned peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following a brief illness.

Loretta was born on September 24, 1940, in Brewer, Maine, to Kenneth and Edith (Porter) Ashe. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1958, where she was a majorette. Loretta made lifelong memories on the dance floor and loved nothing more than going out and dancing the night away.

On September 26, 1958, she married the love of her life, Ronald "Ronnie" Pomeroy.

In Loretta's own words, written in March 1959:

"It certainly was a wonderful wedding. I know I'll never forget it-I don't know how I could, anyway. Ronnie and I were an hour late and forgot the flowers and the marriage license. We took a wonderful trip to Connecticut for a week and now reside in East Corinth. We have become the happiest couple ever known. We love each other daily and always will."

Although a city girl at heart, Loretta came to love country life in Corinth, where she remained for the rest of her years. During the early years of their marriage, Loretta and Ronnie operated a gas and heating oil business, which eventually grew into Pomeroy Water Wells.

Loretta was a devoted homemaker with a tasteful eye for design. She loved being creative and decorating her home for every season and holiday. To those who knew her best, she was affectionately known as "Doc Pomeroy," a self-proclaimed medical professional who was always ready with a diagnosis or advice. In her spare time, she also served as the family's honorary meteorologist, faithfully keeping an eye on the forecast. She was sure to alert everyone if there was even the slightest chance of a tornado-and to remind them to "fill up the bathtub," just in case the power went out.

Loretta spent her life building lasting relationships with family and friends. She treasured the many friendships she formed - some dating back to childhood and others made later in life - and held them close to her heart throughout her years. To know Loretta was to laugh often, love deeply, and find joy in time spent together.

Above all, Loretta treasured her family. She took great pride in her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the time she spent with them brought her immeasurable happiness. Her love, laughter, advice, and concern for everyone's well-being will be deeply missed.

Loretta had a deep and abiding faith in God and shared His Word with those around her whenever she could. She found tremendous comfort and joy in knowing that many of her loved ones-both those who survive her and those who went before her-had found salvation through God's grace.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Reneé, and her husband, Vaughn, of Glenburn; her grandchildren and their significant others, Cody and Autumn of Corinth, Courtney and Jake of Hampden, and Ryan and Amanda of Glenburn; and her precious great-grandchildren, Veronica "Ronnie" of Glenburn and Sullivan "Sully" of Hampden. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary "Bette" Adkins of Corinth; her special nieces, Lorraine Miller and Debbie Sharp; and many other members of her extended family.

Loretta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald Pomeroy Sr.; her son, Ronald Pomeroy Jr.; her parents, Kenneth and Edith Ashe; and her siblings, Kenneth, Jamie, Estelle, Beverley, Sharon, and Cindy.

Though her family will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing that Loretta is reunited with Ronnie and Ron and is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street in Bangor. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mick officiating.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate the life and honor the legacy of Loretta.; a gathering to share memories, stories, and celebrate a life well lived will be held at 35 Lucky's Landing in Glenburn following the graveside, Thursday.
