Linda Wilcox

BREWER - Linda Florence Wilcox, 81, died peacefully on December 31, 2025. She was born May 17,1944, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Clifton and Eileen (Barrett) Perkins.

Linda graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School, Class of 1962. Following graduation, she attended Wesbrook Junior College where she received a degree in Associates of Arts, Child Study Major. After that, Linda attended Gorham State Teachers College, where she graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career at the Herbert Sargent School in Old Town, Maine. She taught throughout the Old Town school system in the classroom and as a resource room teacher for 28 years. In 2001, Linda was recognized by the Southern Penobscot Regional Program as the Maine Special Education Teacher of the Year. Also during Linda's career, she had 2 yearbooks dedicated to her, which she was very honored by. Linda was a high school cheering coach and an advisor on the prom and graduation committees.

Linda had a strong love of the ocean. Growing up in Cape Elizabeth, she spent a lot of time at Fort Williams and Portland Head Light. Linda loved Cresent Beach and Two Lights State Park as well. She enjoyed swimming in the ocean and lounging on the beach. She also loved to garden, knit, and attend her grandsons' sporting events. You could always find Linda at their football and basketball games, and especially watching them play baseball, her favorite sport. Linda was married to her high school sweetheart on June 11, 1966, at the First Congregational Church of South Portland. She and Alan were married for 57 years before he passed away in 2023. Linda is survived by her sister, Karen Bolster of Jacksonville, Florida; her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Jill of Old Town; and her two grandsons, Collin and Connor Wilcox. Linda is predeceased by her oldest son, Alan R. Wilcox, Jr.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, Maine where a funeral service will be held 11a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the service.
