BANGOR - Linda Ann (Chandlee) DeFroscia, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family December 25, 2025, at a local hospital. She was born February 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Burns) Chandlee.
Linda grew up in Philadelphia. In her youth, she enjoyed spending her summers on the Jersey Shore. She graduated from West Chester State College, with a Bachelor of Education. During her time in college, she met her future husband, David DeFroscia Sr. and they were married shortly after, in 1964.
In 1971, David took a position as a History Professor at the University of Maine, Orono. He and Linda settled the family in Bangor where they raised two sons, David Jr. and Benjamin. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by Mary's second husband, Joseph Comber, who lovingly filled the role of father and grandfather; her husband of 39 years, David Defroscia Sr. and sister, Jean Renn and her husband, David. She is survived by her children, David DeFroscia Jr. and his wife, Charline and Benjamin DeFroscia and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, Ramona and William DeFroscia; a special niece, Mary Jo Johnson and special friends, Harry Schoenberg and Kate Collins.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to a special friend, Marsha Shute for her years of care and friendship.
A private graveside service will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, in the spring. Those who wish to remember Linda in a special way, may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt Hope Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
