Laura Ruth Cottrell Pelkey, 75, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 8th, 2026. She was born on January 16, 1950 in Milo, the daughter of Adelbert Laurence Cottrell Sr. and Elba Elvira Lyford Cottrell.

Laura worked in Home Health for many years as a CNA, working towards her RN, she cared for all her patients as if they were family. She enjoyed jewelry making, playing the violin, bird-watching, dancing and spending time outdoors. She was faithful, loved music and the arts, and, above all, spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by her sisters, Vera E. Cottrell Thompson and her husband, Gary, and Amy Leigh Cottrell; brothers, Adelbert "Larry" L. Cottrell Jr., Lee M. Gustin (Cottrell), and Ronald Cottrell; great aunt, Elnora Lyford; grandparents, Frank and Ruth Herbest Lyford

She is survived by sons, Vaughn E. Pelkey and his wife, Becky, and Chester W. Pelkey and his wife, Ruth; sister, Jenette Cooley and her husband, Charles; brother, Arthur Cottrell and his wife, Eileen, and sister-in-law, Lois Cottrell; grandchildren, Brandon L. Pelkey and his wife, Samantha, Cody W. Kingsbury and his wife, Susanne, and Katelyn M. Pelkey; great-grandchildren, Erin, Noah, Maddie, Lucas, Jessie, and Kaiden; many nieces and nephews.

A service at North Brewer Eddington United Methodist Church, 31 Main Road, Eddington, will be announced in the Spring of 2026. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
