Kathleen Ann Goodwin

BANGOR - Kathleen A. "Kathy" Goodwin Gowell, 67, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2026, at a local hospital, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born January 9, 1959, in Island Falls, the daughter of Caswell W. and Geraldine E. (Rand) Wood.

Kathy was a graduate of Hermon High School, Class of 1977. She continued her education at the University of Maine, graduating in 1981 with a degree in accounting. Following college, Kathy began her career at the Dunlap Insurance Agency and later dedicated many years of service to the Vescom Corporation.

A woman of deep faith and service, Kathy was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bangor, where she served as assistant treasurer for many years. She was a gifted and avid crafter and quilter, sharing her talents with the First Baptist Quilters and Common Notions of Carmel.

Kathy cherished her summers at her camp on Spring River Lake, creating lifelong memories with her family and friends. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a dependable, strong, and selfless woman.

Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Dann Gowell; daughter, Kayla Mahar and husband, Kyle; and her beloved granddaughters, Madiline and Elliza; stepdaughters, Amy MacDonald and partner Tim; and Kelly Mahar; step-granddaughters, Kiely, Delanie, and Kerrigan; her first husband, Steve Goodwin and dear friends, Terri Brown and Rhonda Gopan. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Cindy Wood; and her step-grandson, Alex Chabre.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, 56 Center St., Bangor.
