BANGOR – Julian Linwood Jones, 92, died Feb. 26, 2014 at the VA Hospice Center at Togus. He was born Dec. 10, 1921 in Bangor, son of Linwood M. and Queen O. (Jenkins) Jones.
Julian was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1939. He entered the Army Air Corps and served from 1942 to 1945 as a Radar Mechanic in the US and England during the European Air Campaign. He married Beulah “Betty” Norris June 8, 1944 in Bangor. Julian was employed by the Bangor Merrifield Office Supply Company for 41 years, retiring as a buyer. He was a member of Rising Virtue Lodge #10, AF & AM of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32nd degree and Anah Shriners. Julian was coroneted a Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America September 30, 1987 in Boston, MA.
Surviving are one daughter, Julie Storm Jones of Hallowell; two grandsons, Alexander Jones Gross of West Bath and Elijah Norris Gross of Hallowell; one cousin, Clayton Rogers of Brewer. Julian was predeceased by his wife, Beulah “Betty” Jones in 2002 and an infant daughter.
A Masonic memorial service will be held 12 noon Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, conducted by the officers and members of Rising Virtue Lodge. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the service Thursday.
