Joanne MacKinnon

Doting grandmother, eccentric traveler and epic book collector, Joanne passed peacefully in her home on Jan 15, 2026, surrounded by her family and Hagrid, the cat.

Joanne was born in Portland, Oregon to Jack and June Stevenson. After serving in the Peacecorp in Equador, Joanne settled in Eugene, Oregon, where she studied architecture. After a brief year long jaunt to Alaska, Joanne went on to work for Whitebird as a counselor and then for over 20 years at the Eugene Public Library.

Joanne was an avid peace advocate, drove the medical van (her 1968 V.W. Bus) for the Oregon Country Fair, a regular at Cafe Zenon, a "give up gardener", a Master Recycler and always a traveler.

Joanne landed in Maine, after several moves across the country, searching for snow.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Erin, and her favorite people in the world, her grandsons, Xander and Sean.

There will be no services held per Joanne's request. She asks that her loved ones strive for peace in their lifetime in remembrance.
