Joan Marie (Pomeroy) Overlock

Joan Marie (Pomeroy) Overlock, 75, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side after two fights with cancer.

She was born October 21, 1949, in Bangor, Maine to Kenneth L. and Vivian D. (Overlock) Pomeroy. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1967and from St. Joseph's Nursing School in 1968, she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital prior to working many years at Westgate Manor Nursing Home in Bangor as an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse).

She married her husband of 56 years, Wendell G. Overlock, Sr on October 12, 1968. Her most loved job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and most recently great-grandmother. She had 3 children, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She loved her family and God above all else. She will be sorely missed by her husband Wendell, daughters Joy Scovil and Wendy Emerson and her husband Fred Emerson III. Son Wendell "Buddy" Overlock Jr., granddaughters Shaelynn Marie, Makayla Emerson and fiancé Trenton Goody & Brianna Emerson-Robbins and her husband Blake Robbins, great grandson Jameson Goody, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Buster who stayed by her side until the very end.

She is predeceased by her parents, special brother Floyd Pomeroy and special sister-in-law Jeanette (Clark) Pomeroy, sisters Connie Jo Pomeroy and Charlotte (Pomeroy) Kelley.

Relatives and friends may call at Brookings Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway, Bangor on Monday, with a reception immediately following the ceremony at Crosspoint Church. Interment will be following the reception at Snow's Corner Cemetery in Hermon.
