Joan R. Chase, 90, passed away on May 27, 2025 at her home in Veazie following a long illness. She was born on August 19, 1934, the daughter of Owen and Florence (Moores) Getchell.
Joan grew up in the Bangor area, attending Bangor schools. She married the love of her life, Jerome "Jerry" Chase, on May 1, 1954. They built their life in Veazie, raising six children and celebrating 71 wonderful years together.
Joan was a gifted seamstress, sewing clothing and creating costumes for her children. She enjoyed babies, gardening, yard work, creating a home filled with love, and was a wonderful cook. Above all, her greatest passion was caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son, Mark S. Chase. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; children, Nancy Buckley and her husband, Phil, James Chase and his wife, Nancy, Joanne Chase, Lisa Hachey and her husband, Michael, and Laura Michaud and her husband, Shawn; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion.
