Janice Eva Plourde

Janice Eva Plourde, 83, passed away after a brief illness on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on July 11, 1943, in Houlton, Maine, to Dorothy and Stanley Hannigan, Janice grew up in Aroostook County, where she was raised by her mother Dorothy and her stepfather, Colby Stewart. A graduate of Houlton High School, she made her home in Bangor for almost 60 years. Above all else, Janice was deeply proud to be a stay-at-home mother, devoting her life to creating a warm, welcoming, and loving home for her husband and children. Following the passing of her beloved husband, Janice moved to The Meadows, an assisted living community in Old Town, where she enjoyed making new friends and staying active in the community.

A devout Catholic, Janice was a faithful member of St. Mary's Parish in Bangor for many years, drawing great strength and peace from her faith. Known for her kind-hearted spirit, she was naturally friendly and chatty, striking up warm conversations with anyone she met. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was always in the stands, faithfully attending every activity and sporting event for her children and grandchildren. She also found immense comfort in life's simple pleasures-sharing stories over a quiet cup of tea, unwinding with a good book, or working on her latest knitting and quilting projects. Loved ones will forever remember Janice for her open heart, gentle nature, and total devotion to her family.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Deb Burk and her husband, Dan, and Donna Treadwell and her husband, Jay; her son, Mark Plourde and his wife, Laura; her cherished grandchildren, Colby Treadwell and his fiancée, Casey Dunbar, Jordan Treadwell and his wife, Micaela, Cameron Plourde, and Riley Plourde; and her adored great-grandchildren, Owen Treadwell and Beau Treadwell. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Reynold Plourde, Jr.; her mother, Dorothy Stewart; her father, Stanley Hannigan; her stepfather, Colby Stewart; and her sisters, Hazel Vanderlinden and Patricia King.

A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer, ME., at 11am, Friday, September 18, 2026. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith immediately following the service.
