Jami Downing

BANGOR - Jami Downing, 46, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She fought with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Jami became a single mother at 18 and devoted her life to raising her daughter, who will forever be grateful. She worked and put herself through college, graduating from Husson University in May 2012. Jami began working at the University of Maine in 2018 and gained many wonderful memories and colleagues. Jami was a source of light to everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Jami was predeceased by her father, Roderick Downing and stepfather, Robert Hackett. She is survived and will be forever remembered by her daughter, Ciera Downing; her sister, Nicole Downing; her brother-in-law, Greg Pinkham; her mother and stepfather, Connie and Dennis Tarsook, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held for friends and family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
