James M. Black

James Black, died September 23, 2025 at his home with his granddaughter, Brooke Trojano-Black and his sister, Gloria Black at his side.
He was born in Bangor, February 11, 1945 the son of Ora F. and Mary (Hughes) Black, Sr.
He was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1964. James played football all four years and was named All Star Center his last year. He also taught Pop Warner Football.
James went to work after high school in construction. Soon after he worked operating heavy equipment and became a crane operator as his dad and four brothers had done.
James was a member of the International Union Operating Engineers Local 4, until his retirement.
Surviving are, his granddaughters, Brooke-Trojano Black, Eva Lilly Black; grandson, Vincent James Black; a sister, Gloria Black; James's extended family, Megan and Robert Bell and their two sons, Garrett and Gabriel, who were his grandsons.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bonny Gary Black, a son Jason Edward Black, four brothers, Ora F., Black, Jr., Edward A. Black, Martin E. black and Joseph L Black; seven sisters, Mary Frances Plummer, Vera T. Kelleher, Irene A. Hull, Marilyn C. Gallant, Elizabeth M. McCullough, Patricia M. Mills and Madeline J. St. Pierre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Friday, October 10, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, York St., Bangor. The Rite of Committal will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
