Born in Schenectady, New York to Anne and William Worden of Bedford Village, New York. Graceann will forever hold Bedford Village as a special place in her life and would often share fond childhood memories of tending to the vast family gardens, ice skating with family at Lake Waccabuc and spending time with her cherished Aunt Rea who was a pillar of her life.
Graceann attended State University of New York in Plattsburgh where she achieved an undergraduate degree in early elementary education. She began teaching 4th and 5th grade, always volunteering to take on additional teaching duties to share her love of Science. During this time, she and Robert Feher met and later married on July 30th 1966 in Bedford Village, New York. Graceann and Robert moved to Iowa where she continued her education and worked as a teacher, and in 1968 received her master's degree in special education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She continued teaching school until 1974 when she and Robert began their family.
Graceann was a devoted mother to her two children Kimberly and William and could often be found fully supporting whichever activity either of them were involved in. Robert and Graceann moved to Skowhegan, Maine in 1976 and then to Brewer, Maine where together, and as a family, they started the Brewer Veterinary Clinic in 1979. Graceann served as Brewer Veterinary Clinic's first receptionist and was an astute administrator for the Veterinary Clinic and eventually for another small business Graceann and Robert started together, the Bear Brook Kennel, for over 30 years.
Throughout her life Graceann dedicated her time and many talents to the support of women's education with her involvement in the Junior League of Bangor, Maine and as a member and past president of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter B. Alongside her dedication to community and family was an immense appreciation for colors and textures. She was a brilliant rug hooker, quilter, embroiderer, knitter and gardener. Many beautifully hooked rugs, and carefully curated quilts, socks, mittens and plants have known her tender and exacting touch.
Graceann is survived by her husband, Robert Feher, and their two children, Kimberly Friedrich with husband Shane Friedrich. William Feher, his wife Madeleine Feher and their children Grace and Lilly. Graceann's sister Claire Horan and her family, as well as the Feldman family of Bedford Village. Condolences may be expressed to BrookingsSmith.com.
