Geneva Smith

ORRINGTON - Geneva Eileen Smith, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 1, 1933, the daughter of Pearl William and Louise Ester (Gilman) Bennett.

Geneva married the love of her life, Elmer L. Smith, on July 7, 1951, and enjoyed 73 years of marriage. She was a graduate of Bucksports High School. Geneva was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and EOCC.

She loved the daily newspaper puzzles. Geneva enjoyed traveling, camping, coffee visits with family, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She had a great sense of humor, loved to tell a story, and kept the family connected.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Elmer "Mac" Smith; her son, Stephen Smith; brothers, Edwin "Ted" Bennett, Victor Bennett, and Stanley Bennett; sisters, Ellie Rich, Gertude Crockett, Lyndall "Bun" Turner, Lucille Quinn, Gladys Wallace, and Rosemary Bennett.

Geneva is survived by two sons, Gregory (Cindy) Smith, and Edwin (Pamela) Smith; daughter, Peggy Smith; special niece and "second daughter", Joanne Dolan, who dedicated a great deal of time to lovingly caring for Geneva; grandchildren, Justin (Nancy) Smith, Becca (Mike) LaBrie, Corey (Sammie) Smith, and Andrew (Shellie) Smith; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews, who she dearly loved.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Dean Hill Cemetery, River Road, Orrington.
