GAIL DORIS HATCH
HERMON, MAINE - Gail D. Hatch, 85, passed away peacefully, after a period of declining health, at home, on April 10, 2026. Gail was born in Brewer, Maine, the daughter of the late Douglas A. Doane and Beatrice (Powers) Doane. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Gary Doane. Gail grew up in Veazie and graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1959. Gail then entered the work force and began her clerical career working for many businesses, including Bangor Cable Company and ZF Steering Lemforder. She met her husband, Ronnie, while working at a local parts business, and they were married in 1961. They had three children, Bonnie (husband Richard), of Palmyra, Brenda (husband Michael Whitman), of Glenburn, and Brian (fiancée Paula Young), of Glenburn. After retirement, Mom took up knitting, crocheting, cooking, puzzles, but always was ready for a fishing excursion. Mom enjoyed trips to the ocean, car rides for Dunkin coffee, shopping at Renys, Nascar races, camping, and fishing. She was a great fan of anything sweet, and always had dessert. She will also be remembered for her fondness for white sneakers (of which she had two dozen pairs). She is survived by her children, seven grandchildren, Chris, Breanne, Kellie, Danielle, Kayla, Brandon and Bryce, as well as six great-grandchildren and brother, David Doane of Glenburn, Maine, and sister, Debra Lainsbury, of Eddington. Services will be held later in the summer, together with her husband, Ronald, who passed away December 1, 2025. The family wants to sincerely thank all the nurses and CNA's at Bristol Hospice who have been providing her with care and comfort for the last few months, as well as Maria and Diane, who have provided Mom with much comfort and laughter. Condolences may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
