Evelyn Price Burns, 86, died at her home in Hampden, Maine on March 25th, 2022. Evelyn was born on March 8th 1936 in Orange, New Jersey to William Franklyn Price of Newark, NJ and Evelyn Elizabeth Price (nee Westwell) of Methuen, MA. She grew up in Cedar Grove, NJ, graduating from New Jersey State Teachers College in Newark, NJ in June 1958.
Evelyn married Robert Lee Burns in January 1964 in Cedar Grove, NJ. She then ventured west and embarked upon her life away from New Jersey which included living in Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Maine. Evelyn worked as a teacher, a homemaker, and a librarian (her favorite) during her life.
Evelyn gathered friends wherever she lived and was a faithful and constant correspondent. She loved crafting—knitting, quilting, sewing and more—as well as reading and gardening and keeping her household and family in good order—or else!
She is survived by her three children, three grandchildren, two grand dogs and two great-grandchildren. Evelyn wished to be interred with a private service in the green and rolling hills of Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, well-wishers, friends and family who wish to donate in her memory are encouraged to consider giving to Lutheran World Relief, Project Linus, or the Food Pantry at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mill Hall, PA.
