HERMON - Carolyn (Hoyt) Kennedy, 87, of Hermon, Maine, transitioned from earth to the presence of her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2026, at Northern Light Hospital in Bangor, Maine, following a brief illness.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, loved by all who experienced her gentle kindness. She was a beautiful witness to the goodness of the God she loved, living with full trust that His faithful promises would carry her through all of life's trials.
Carolyn spent her childhood in Millville, New Brunswick, Canada. After high school, she moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick, where she completed business college and attended a church where she caught the eye of a certain Bible school student. Carroll (Sonny) Kennedy had that something special that convinced her he was her forever, and she committed to being his partner wherever God would lead them.
She faithfully served as a pastor's wife beside her husband for 50 years across five areas of New England. Her main mission was raising her daughters to love Jesus and love people. She possessed a wonderful gift of hospitality, and many enjoyed her home-cooked meals and yeast rolls over the years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea McCrury; son-in-law, Ronald Peabody; her parents; five older brothers; and a younger sister.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Rev. Carroll D. Kennedy; daughter, Lynette Peabody; and son-in-law, Rev. Timothy McCrury. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Calvary Apostolic Church, 24 Crosby Way, Hampden, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments in the church's fellowship hall immediately following the service. Interment will take place at 11:00a.m., Monday, October 19, in Maple Grove Cemetery, Old Town. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
