Ed Ellis

January 12, 1962 — August 7, 2024

Ensign “Ed” Edson Ellis, 62, passed peacefully in his sleep on August 7th, 2024, at his home in Glenburn. He was born in Dover-Foxcroft on January 12th, 1962, the son of Richard E. and Pauline L. (Flanders) Ellis.

Ed was a lot of things to a lot of people, but will mostly be remembered for being a loving Husband, Father/”Bonus Dad”, Brother, Uncle, Son, and most recently, his proudest title, Grandpa. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending his time enjoying Pushaw Lake, or in the fall you would find him at one of his many “secret” hunting spots. Ed also loved working with his hands, using his mechanic skills or doing some sort of wood working. He wasn’t the kind of person you’d find sitting at home much, he was always keeping himself busy, and was always willing to lend a hand when a friend needed it. In his last few years, Ed mostly enjoyed visiting his son and grandsons, or sitting at home with his wife watching the hummingbirds out their window. He and his wife also attended the Old Town Christian Fellowship, in Old Town. It brings us comfort to know that Ed is no longer in pain and with our Lord.

Ed had a deep appreciation and respect for nature and all living things. He had a gentle and graceful way about him that you could see, especially in the way that he loved and interacted with dogs. Ed owned many dogs over the years and had a special place in his heart for all of them. We are sure he was greeted by all of them when he arrived in heaven.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James Hultberg. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Deborah (Francis) Ellis, and their dog, Baxter; his son, Todd Ellis and his wife, Sara, of Orono; his “bonus” daughter, Kimberley Harris and her boyfriend, Ralph Boynton, of Fairfield; “bonus” son, Preston Harris, of Glenburn; and “bonus” daughter, Bridget Baird and her husband, Jeff, of Pace, FL; big sisters, Donna Hultberg of Grays Creek, NC, and Charmaine Morrison and her husband, Harold, of Bucksport. He is also survived by his grandsons, Wyatt and Andre Ellis of Orono; along with many special nieces and nephews.

Services will be announced at a later date.
