BANGOR, MAINE - Eleen E. (LeBlanc) Bard, 86, sadly passed away on May 17, 2025, with her children at her side. She was born to Frances E. (Dunn) and George LeBlanc in Old Town, Maine on August 18, 1938.
Eleen is survived by her children, Michael D. Bard and Margareta, Wilfred J. Bard Jr. and Brian, Mary J. (Bard) Crosby and Sean and Susan E (Bard) Young and Brian; her grandchildren, Joseph Bard, Madison (Bard) Ramirez, Patrick Young, and Christopher Young; her great-grandchild, Marley Rose Ramirez; her siblings, Russell LeBlanc, Cheryl Dalphonse, and Andrew Miller as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews whom she all loved.
Eleen was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Wilfred J. Bard, Sr.; son, Rick A. Bard; grandson, Derreck Bard; her siblings, Elwin LeBlanc, Linda L. Tweedie, John Cram, and George Dunn; her mother, Frances E. Dunn and father, George LeBlanc.
Eleen grew up in foster care for much of her childhood before moving in with her grandparents in Greenbush, Maine for her high school years, attending St. John Baptist High School in Old Town, Maine. Her experience as a foster child was so profound that she became a foster parent to many children for six years while raising her family on Old County Road in West Enfield, Maine. She and her husband moved the family to Town Farm Road in Lincoln, Maine in 1981 where they lived for 40 years.
Eleen worked at the Osram Sylvania Factory in Bangor, Maine from 1968 to 1975. In 1974 she started Wilfred J. Bard & Sons Construction Company with her husband, where she would stay until 1980. From 1981 to 1984 Eleen was the bookkeeper for Raymond Dubé & Sons in Lincoln, Maine. Eleen became the bookkeeper for Income Tax Man in Lincoln, Maine in 1985, and would remain there the rest of her career, retiring in 2011. For many years Eleen was also a classic moonlighting pizza maker for the iconic Beef Barn located on Fleming Street in Lincoln. While that may sound beneath some people, Eleen made pizza like it was an award-winning job.
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise him," ( Psalm 28:7). Eleen's commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to her family never faltered. She lived her life to one day meet Jesus face to face, and always shared of His faithfulness. She could be found telling others about Jesus, praying for them, or offering counsel (and even at times "unwanted" counsel). She was always either talking about the Lord or her children-Jesus was number one to her above all though. Her faith was strong and to her, there was nothing that Jesus could not do. She was truly a woman of unwavering faith and lived a life devoted to Him, leaving behind a legacy of love, prayer, and righteousness. Eleen was a woman who trusted fully in the Lord, placing her confidence and reliance entirely on God's guidance, promises, and power, even in the face of uncertainty or adversity. Her faith and understanding of scriptures gave her the courage to face death without fear. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord," (2 Corinthians 5:8). Until moving to live with her son in Bangor, she was a long-time member of Community Evangel Temple in Lincoln.
At Eleen's request the family has arranged for a graveside service to be held at 1:00p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Park St. Cemetery, Lincoln, Maine. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
